Green Day
The genre of the artist is conveyed through the colour scheme of the poster. Typically punk rock has darker colours, such as black and red, and also has a lot of artistic elements, such as the cartoon effect of the poster involved. The black and red within the picture represent gothic values, and can also be seen on the band members, as they are wearing black shirts with red ties.
Punk rock values tend to be things such as being rebellious and breaking the rules. This can be seen through the poster as we can see the font style, such as the ‘Heart like a Hand Grenade’ title, which is written in a messy way in order to show a breakage from being completely normal, as typically titles are written in straight lines.
A ‘community’ is created through having live band performances, which allows audience members to personally see bands playing live, and allowing fans to meet other fans and network, which therefore allows them to build a greater sense of community.
Atypically of a punk rock website we can see that sex pistols does not follow the typical conventions as they do not have any gothic style fonts or very edgy graphics and drawings. However, we can see that it is organised in a messy fashion, with each image being carefully made to represent being rebellious, such as the main text body having a ripped looking parchment as its background. The clothing style of the band members are also more rock inspired, mixed with an urban theme, which shows how although they create punk rock music, they do not only focus on that one style of music completely, as they have made other forms of rock music as well.
Similarly to Green Day, we can also see that they are rebellious and break the rules due to the fact that there is a hole in the British flag in the background, which shows how although they are British, they are also rebellious and against the 'system'.
A community is also created through this band as they have photos and videos of the band, which people can comment on and share, and the band also has live performances, which fans can attend and watch, allowing fans to meet other fans and become a community based on something they enjoy, which in this case is the band.
